POLYGAMY

Polygamy has been well known by many people right now. This word has become a controversial, because there are some people agree with polygamy and some of them disagree. Maybe people who disagree with polygamy are man, and women disagree with this because they are harmed by polygamy. There are some reasons why people agree and disagree with polygamy.

Polygamy is allowed if there are certain conditions which face individuals and societies in different places and at different times, which make the limited practice of polygamy a better solution rather than divorce. So that in family life, the woman agree her husband to marry again with other woman for get children, or maybe other condition that make her agree with her husband to marry again/ polygamy. In religion such as in Judaism, Islam, and Christianity does not provide an explicit prohibition of Polygamy. In fact that, many men do polygamy because in religion there is no prohibition for this.

In contrary, polygamy harms the woman, because no one woman wants to share, especially to share her husband with other woman. Although, she has strong belief with her religion, but finally she cannot survive with this condition and they will choose to divorce rather than share with other woman. In many cases, woman does not want her husband to marry again. For example in Indonesia, Aa Gym’s wife who permits her husband to marry again, finally she wants to divorce because there is no woman want to share.

There are some reasons why people agree and disagree with polygamy. Even tough there is no prohibition in many religions about polygamy, but polygamy must be not allowed. It will harm woman, and there will be much divorce because of polygamy.
